Tips on Handling Stress 處理壓力的訣竅(part 1 of 7)
Control. Everyone wants it, but how many people really have it? When we strive to control our world and can't, we feel threatened. lf we don't overcome the trapped feeling, stress arises.
Hannah works at a newspaper. This morning she is feeling especially overwhelmed. "Let's see," thought Hannah. "I need to check on photos for two articles and finish proofreading the layout of today's sports page ..."
"Excuse me, Hannah," interrupted Larry. "I know you're busy, but could you write the advice column this week? I just don't have any ideas, and it's due this afternoon."

"This afternoon?" questioned Hannah. "Um, sure. No problem."
"Thanks, I knew you would!" exclaimed Larry.
"I can't believe Larry did it again," Hannah thought. "He always hands me a project at the last minute."

"Hannah Blythe speaking."
"I'm so glad you're at your desk, Hannah!" said Louise.
"Oh, no, not Louise!" thought Hannah. "I wonder what this week's crisis is?"

"This has been the worst week," Louise moaned.
"Tell me about it," Hannah replied.
"lt all started when the car broke down ..." Louise began.
Twenty long minutes later, Hannah hung up the phone.
"Why did I let Louise talk to me so long? Now I'll have to work on the advice column during lunch."
Hannah didn't leave the office until after 6 p.m. And, as usual, she took extra assignments home to complete.

Is your life like Hannah's? lf so, here are some tips to help you:

* Identify tasks and prioritize them. Use the jobs you enjoy as rewards for completing tedious ones.
* Set boundaries. Be realistic about what you can or can't do. When faced with a request you're unsure of, say "no," not "yes." Get counsel from others if you can't set boundaries on your own.

* Be positive and keep cool. See your problems as opportunities. Think "What's the first step to finishing this project?" instead of "I'll never be able to finish this project on time!"
* Live in the present. Try not to dwell on past mistakes. Going over and over your failures only increases stress.
* Be flexible and learn to laugh at yourself.
* Build friendships to help you cope.
* Begin an exercise program.
* Take up a hobby or join a club.
*態度積極並保持冷靜。將你的問題看作是機會,要想「完成這個案子,我第一步該做什麼」,而不是「我一定沒辦法準時完成這個案子的」!
* 活在當下。試著不要停留在過去的錯誤中,不斷重溫你的失敗只會增加壓力。
* 有彈性點,並試著可以嘲笑自己。
* 建立友誼以幫助你應付壓力。
* 開始從事運動。
